The Doctor and Martha pay a visit to New York. They land on the 1st of November 1930, during the depression. It is a time where there is mass unemployment and a squatter settlement
of hundreds in the middle of central park. That is not all however; people have been going missing from the Hooverville settlement and the Doctor is determined to find out why.
At the Hooverville settlement, the Doctor and Martha meet Soloman, the charismatic leader of the camp. Not long after meeting the Doctor, all three of them, alongside a man named
Frank, agree to go down the sewers to clean a blockage. Down in the sewers they encounter a legion of half man, half Pig beings and flee for their lives. Frank, however, is not so
lucky.
High in the still under construction Empire State Building stands Diagoras. His life is ruled by his masters - the Daleks, who have a burning desire to evolve. Little does he know
that he's about to become part of the process...
The new Dalek Sec hybrid faces a challenge to his plans. After the Doctor is captured, the other Daleks turn on him and seek to put Dalek minds into Human bodies. The Doctor tries
to stop them by dismantling the Dalekanium placed on the top of the Empire State Building, but drops his Sonic screwdriver. Luckily the Humans now have some Timelord DNA, but will
they exterminate the Doctor?

Dalek: You think like a Dalek.
Diagoras: I'll take that as a compliment.
Dalek Sec: There are millions of Humans and only four of us. If we are supreme, why are we not victorious?
Dalek Sec: I am a Human Dalek. I am your future.
Soloman: If you have any compassion in your hearts, then you will meet with us and stop this fight. Well, what do you say?
Dalek: Exterminate!
Dalek Caan: You told us to imagine and we imagined your irrelevance!

Daleks in Manhattan was quite a good episode in my opinion. Miranda Raison played the cute, but dumb, blonde Tallulah very well, as did Hugh Quarshie, who played Soloman. The dialogue
was, on the whole, very good. Dalek Sec's line about there being only four Daleks was a point well made. However, Helen Raynor did slip in yet another Rose reference, cue the mass
groaning! A great start.
The second part was nearly as good as the first. Dalek Sec once again had the good lines. However, the episode didn't really work for me. The Daleks had so many attempts to exterminate the
Doctor, but didn't! The last scene where the Doctor cured Laslo was also kinda annoying. There were some good bits in between though.
