The Story
The Doctor takes Rose to the year five billion and twenty-three. He has been summoned to a Hospital ran by a group of Cat nurses - but by who?

The Doctor goes into Ward 23 to meet his host. Rose on the other hand gets taken down to the basement where Cassandra takes over her body. Worse still, she has hopes of bribing the Cat Nurses in order to gain a fortune, but by so doing she unleashes a horde of Human disease carriers.

The Hospital is under siege - can the Doctor get Rose back and, furthermore, can they survive?

Memorable Quotes
Cassandra: It's goodbye Trampoline and hello blondie!

Cassandra: [Looking at a mirror in Rose's body] Oh my God. I'm a Chav!

Doctor: I've got an appointment: the Doctor is in!

Editor's Review
New Earth was really good. Russell T. Davies has used the same technique that he employed with the Slitheen in World War Three - ending sentences with swear words by cutting just before the offending word is spoken. I don't know if it will pass the BBFC’s Eagle eyes though...

Funny and incomplete sentences aside, the episode's sub-theme was about genetic research and the problems that it brings - a very political point at the moment. It was nice to see that Cassandra ended her life after getting the chance to go back and tell her past self that she was beautiful. It showed a merciful side to the tenth Doctor that we didn't see in The Christmas Invasion.

Well done Zoë Wannamaker, Russell T. Davies and Billie Piper for the double role. The second series has begun! (Dan Ludlow)
