The Story
The TARDIS lands in Cardiff on the rift in order for it to have a charge. Mickey arrives with Rose's passport, which is really just a way of getting him to Cardiff for Rose's enjoyment. When they sit at a Restaurant at the end of the pier, the Doctor notices a familiar face on the cover of a newspaper - It's a Slitheen!

The Doctor, Rose, Jack and Mickey go to confront Margaret, who plans to destroy the Earth by building a very unsafe Nuclear Power Station on top of the rift and then surfing out. They capture her and lead her back to the TARDIS pending a journey to her home planet and her execution. Margaret does however have one last trick up her sleeve and the board that she was to use to break free from the Earth opens the rift and starts taking energy from the TARDIS.

The story ends with Mickey walking quietly away from Rose and the 'Heart of the TARDIS' turning Margaret back into an egg so she can re-live her life as a better person.

Memorable Quotes
Margaret: We're in Cardiff! London doesn't care! The south-west coast could fall into the sea and they wouldn't notice!

Margaret: It only carries on. I had to fly without co-ordinates. Ended up in a skip on the isle of Dogs.

Doctor: You're pleading for mercy out of a dead woman's lips

Editor's Review
Boom Town was a bit of a disappointment I'm sorry to say. The story was in little bits and a lot of Sci-Fi nerdy lingo crept in, which would have left some lesser Sci-Fi fans with a headache! I personally dislike the TARDIS being alive, but I'm not writing the scripts so I'll put up with it.

A nice bit though was the showing that the Slitheen had a heart when she spared the life of a reporter who was about to get married and was carrying a child. It gave the Slitheen a better side against that shown in 'Aliens of London' and 'World War Three'. The resolution was not one that I liked, and as I've just mentioned too heavy on the oddball lingo! It was OK in the end, but for me the worst of the series thus far I'm sorry to say. (Dan Ludlow)
