Rose makes a personal request to the Doctor. She wants to see her Dad before he dies. She never knew him, because he died when she was very young.
The Doctor and Rose stand on the corner where Rose's father dies and witness the 'hit and run' that kills him. However,
Rose shies away from saying goodbye and asks for one last go. On that last go, she leaps out and saves her father from death.
This has terrible consequences...
Minutes later, a band of alien beings arrive and start killing everyone in an attempt to "sterilise the wound" in time.
The Doctor, Rose and several other people get trapped inside a church and after Rose makes matters worse, her Dad does the only thing that could save them -
he runs in front of the very car that was destined to kill him and takes his life.

Father's Day is a truly wonderful episode. It is brilliantly written and is very emotional - definitely a 21st century Who! Paul Cornell's episode isn't a very scary one,
but the emotion and the lesson not to meddle with time are both tackled brilliantly. The acting by all is really good. Billie Piper does superbly when she has the long and
emotional scenes with the on-screen Dad she never knew. In short, a wonderful episode of the new Doctor Who.
