The Story
The Doctor, Rose and new travelling partner Adam travel to the year 200,000 and onto 'Satellite Five'. Upon arrival, the Doctor senses that there is something badly something wrong and sets out to find out what is really happening on the station. Adam, meanwhile, is getting nervous.

The Doctor and Rose pose as inspectors and go on a brisk unofficial inspection of the station. The Editor finds out and eventually lets them up to level 500 where things are not as they seem elsewhere. They learn that the Human race is under the control of an alien life form by the name of The Mighty Jagrafess of the Holy Hadrojassic Maxarodenfoe (try saying that whilst you're drunk!). Adam meanwhile has decided that he wants to know it all and starts transmitting information on the Earth's future down the phone line to the year 2012. Little does he know that he is actually helping out the forces of evil...

In the end, Cathica (one of the station's news transmitters) saves the day by using her newly found intelligence. Adam gets the heave ho!

Memorable Quotes
Doctor: [To Adam & Rose] Oi! Mott and Jeff: over here!

Cathica: Once you go to floor five-hundred, you never come back

Editor: Well, we all know what happens to non-entities - they get promoted

Editor's Review
The Long Game is quite a good story about a subject that affects us all - even in the twenty-first century. The story does however lack that certain background and depth that I would have liked to have seen. The effects are good and quite scary (as was one of Simon Pegg's lines!) and blend in with the theme well.

Simon Pegg does well as The Editor and Rose has a strong showing. The theme is a good one and; if developed a little further would have made for a really good episode. Overall it's an OK to Good from me. (Dan Ludlow)
