The Doctor and Rose find themselves in an underground space museum in Utah after they received a cry for help. The caller was a chained up Dalek, hidden inside a vault being made to talk.
However, when the Doctor's interest is aroused by Henry Van Statten (the owner of the museum), he is sent to meet this Dalek, who leans that both he and the Doctor are alone in their number.
Foolishly Rose sees the Dalek being tortured and touches it, which gives the Dalek some DNA; giving it a boost. The Dalek repairs itself and starts causing havoc.
In the end, Rose's DNA proves to be the Dalek's undoing as it starts to question itself and ends up committing suicide as it struggles to cope with its new reality.

This was a Dalek story like no other. Its nearest comparison in terms of the theme would be The Evil of the Daleks, where they develop 'The Human Factor' and also start to question their orders.
The story is good in its context, but die-hard Whovians will be annoyed to see a Dalek pleading for it's own extermination.
I liked it and I liked the use of CGI and model making that ensured that the creature inside actually moved emotively. It's a sad story, but I think a great story.
Well done to Rob Shearman for writing a great and markedly different Dalek story.
